Take Control of Your Sound The primary function of our Sonic Weight is to act as a weight compensator at the cartridge position on the tonearm. It serves as to make up for low initial cartridge weight or as to alter the tonearm’s effective mass. By its high density, our brass weight is particularly efficient where mass concentration is required in a small volume in a confined place. Brass alloys have the particularity of containing a considerable amount of copper. This high density material offers sonic isolation to mount a cartridge on. We have found that the high ductility of copper is favorable to dampen resonances and to reduce noise transmission from the cartridge to the tonearm’s headshell, and vice versa. Our high mass shims ensures a rigid surface for linking the cartridge to the headshell. Their extensive surface establishes a perfect contact to the opposite joining faces. Consequently, the Sonic Weight is the perfect weight for the vinyl lover wanting to forge an ideal allying the cartridge generator and its record grooves i.e. stability by minimizing energy loss through unnecessary tonearm movement. One requires a tonearm with an adjustable VTA feature to use our high mass shim when positioned under the headshell, so to ensure it remains parallel to the record surface after installing the adequate weight. The installation is quite simple, one merely needs to introduce it between the headshell and the phono cartridge and to re-adjust the counter-weight to the recommended VTF (Vertical Tracking Force). If allowable, one can also mount the weight over the headshell to avoid changing the VTA setting. This weight kit provide flexibility to the user by stacking different thickness combinations to reach the proper mass. The possible combinations are: 1.25g, 2.61g, 3.86g, 5.05g, 6.30g, 7.66g, and 8.91g. ±5% All weight model received a heated microcrystaline wax treatment to prevent surface oxydation.
