The DIY paradoxpulse body is satin back only. The satin finish is because the aluminum, after being machined, was then sand blasted giving a penning effect to the body for added rigidly then the anodizing and then final machining of logo and center. Paradoxpulse logo and center line is engraved into the aluminum.Machined from T-6 made in America aluminum and machined in America this is the budget body for the Do It Yourselfer.Your factory stylus guard will NOT fit this DIY body leaving the stylus exposed so please handle with caution.If you want I will pot your Denon 103 series cartridge for only $90- additional, just let me know you will be shipping your cartridge to me so I don’t send the body to you!Dimensions outside; 0.95″ long X 0.725″ wide X 0.435″ high. Top thickness 0.072″, side thickness 0.12″.Dimension inside; 0.875″ length X 0.32″ wide X 0.075″ high, in between screw mounts and 0.47″ wide the rest of the way must see picture to understand how the inside is built/shaped.Weight; 6.2 grams plus the 30 pieces of lead shot approximately 2.5 grams.You can pot other cartridges in this body also see last pictures for other ideas, be as innovative as you want.This modification with lead will outperform the ZU body, without lead about the same other than I recommend more epoxy than they use.Instructions; Preparing your Denon motor to go into the DIY body only requires this much trimming, see pictures.You then insert the cartridge into the body and tape the back closed with painters tape, add lead only into the front portion under the cantilever front and sides. 30 pieces of lead will be provided for you, how much you use is up to you, I recommend all 30. The lead (you do not have to use it) is a micro damper that gives the Paradox a leg up (more like a LEAP ahead) of everyone else. Tape the back closed with painters tape (provided along with plastic bag for mixing epoxy in) keep the back of the Denon flush with the back of the Pulse body or as close as you can get it.With epoxy mixed (if mixed in plastic bag just puncture the tip of a corner and you can use the bag to drip the epoxy out one drip at a time) drip into front and sides until lead and rear pins are covered. I like to fill until I have reached the top of the pins in the back.Once the epoxy sets, but is not fully hardened, remove tape and use denatured alcohol (rubbing will work if still soft enough or you like to scrub a lot) to clean any epoxy that tried to escape the taped area or that may have been partially dripped on the sides or any place you don’t want epoxy. I like to use Q-tips to get in by the pins in the back and a microfiber cloth for any bigger areas.Type of epoxy; most all epoxy will work but I prefer a low viscosity (very runny to get into all the nooks and crannies) and a slow drying type giving me more time to work. I like epoxy that takes 30 minutes or longer (I do several at a time even if it is just the perimeter of the Guard body I am working on) but for most any epoxy that takes 10 to 20 minutes to set will work fine. I found this online at amazon and it is perfect to use, MG Chemicals 832HD Black 1:1 Epoxy Encapsulating and Potting Compound, 25 milliliters Dual Dispenser I use Epoxyseal 9000 but it comes in a 48-ounce container.I will also pot your cartridge for only $90- if you prefer just let me know that you are sending your cartridge to me so I don’t ship the body to you until the cartridge is finished.Never get epoxy on the cantilever as it will go into the coils and ruin them. If this happens you may still save it by removing from the shell and flushing rubbing alcohol over the coils multiple times until you believe there is no epoxy in or on them. At this point clean everything up and start over, just another reason for longer setting epoxy as opposed to the quick stuff.DO NOT USE JB WELD AS IT IS MAGNETIC AND CAN/WILL MIGRATE INTO THE COILS KILLING CARTRIDGE.Now you have one of the best cartridges in the world. Total weight ~16 grams, typically 15.7grams.The factory guard for the Denon 103 series cartridge will NOT fit this body.
