They have no cartridges, they have no styluses, they offer little support in terms of technical information. Since that time, a major Japanese stylus maker jumped on the bandwagon and is selling Shure replacements and guarantees original specs, but here’s the rub: THEY ARE OUTRAGEOUSLY PRICED (like $80-ish)!!!! On the flip side, we have more reasonable styluses (around $20 or less) from companies, but the issue here is consistency. Sometimes you get a stylus that is OK, and, well, sometimes you don’t. WHY CAN’T WE HAVE GREAT PERFORMANCE AT A MORE REASONABLE PRICE?????????? The owners of Artistic Audio decided that we need original performance at a more reasonable price. The four (4) models of styluses in this offer are not the least expensive styluses that fit the N44s, N55s and N80, but the offer far better performance than the under $20 manufacturers. And the price of Artistic Audio styluses is much more reasonable than the styluses made by the $80 company. If you are looking at tracking as your #1 objective, it would be a good idea to look at the match for the N44C, unfortunately, those are not in stock, yet. The N44-7 replacement stylus tracks lighter, but may well work for you, until the N44C styluses arrive. If you are a DJ and are spinning vinyl, you most likely want to track at a higher tracking force. If you are looking at sound quality tracking as your #1 objective and tracking as your #2 objective, it would be a good idea to look at the match for the N44E. The N44E tracks well at a more moderate tracking force, but sports a nude mounted 0.3 x 0.7 mil elliptical stylus with better channel separation (and in theory, higher frequency response, although this does not show in Shure’s specs). If you own a newer Hi Fi table (late 70s-present), something with a low mass (usually straight) tonearm, it would be a good idea to look at the replacement for the N55E stylus. The N55E stylus also sports a nude mounted 0.3 x 0.7 mil elliptical stylus with better channel separation (and in theory, higher frequency response, although this does not show in Shure’s specs). If you own an early Hi Fi table, you probably have a more massive tonearm than your 80s and 90s counterpart, you it would be a good idea to look at the the N44E stylus.
